78 Hour Rain — Controls and playing guide

What you do

Defend a procedurally generated house from intruders using traps and barricades. The developer describes a survival challenge, not simply a walk through rainy scenery.

Controls

WASD to move; mouse to look; right click to interact; F for flashlight; hold E for trap, R for barricade.

A useful first decision

Prepare a defended route before danger arrives. Darkness and an unprotected doorway can undermine a room that otherwise looks secure.

Five Nights at Freddy's 3Monitor Springtrap while managing failing security systems in a Fazbear's Fright-themed night. This entry relies on different tools from the first game's door routine.Check which system has failed before repeating an action. Copying the original game's door strategy does not solve this entry's maintenance problems.
Five Nights at Freddy'sMonitor cameras and manage office defenses while conserving limited power through the night. Checking a threat and keeping a defense active have different costs.Check a suspicious approach, act on it, then reassess. Leaving every defense active indefinitely can exhaust power before the night ends.
Five Nights at Candy'sMonitor a restaurant through security cameras and respond to animatronic activity. This fan-game entry has its own threats and should not be treated as an identical FNAF night.Learn one approach route at a time and check the corresponding defense. Do not keep every control active without knowing why.

The art style is simple but very effective at conveying the mood of a desolate, rain-soaked world.

Sometimes you have to take a risk and venture out into the storm for that one rare resource. Heart-pounding!

A bit overwhelming at first, but the learning curve is fair. Stick with it, it's worth it!
